We had a fantastic time - bought heaps of fresh produce, and I even managed to find a Kombucha kit (that's for another post, but its experimental work in progress).
Strawberries are just coming back into season - 500g for $6 - bargain!
Heaps of enthusiastic stall holders, all with fresh local produce. Bargain prices! Make sure you check out your local farmers market for fresh local produce - heaps cheaper than the supermarket!
So, today was cook up a storm day. Our son is keen on soups at the moment - so I decided to make a ham soup - had to start it off with a chicken stock. While the stock was cooking in the pressure cooker, I had a variety of fresh chillies gently cooking away on the stove ($10 a kilo for a great variety). In between I started zesting the lemons for limoncello, and started my Kombucha into a growth spurt.
Now, what to do with 15 zested lemons is a bit of a challenge, "can you please make Lemon Meringue Pie? Please mum....please?"
Might need another sip of that Suncoast Lime cordial to clear my brain.
Anyway, the chicken stock is done - now onto that ham soup.
Dinner tonight will be my sticky Asian Lamb - just need to get the pressure cooker finished with that soup and then in it will go for a couple of rounds, dish it up with some rice noodles and shallots....mmmmmm - just need to get it falling off the bone (won't take long in the pressure cooker).
I am thinking those strawberries need to be in a saucepan with some cinnamon and star anise....a syrup and some homemade icecream....yep....that is if they don't get eaten first!
